This is the right option if:
You want to implement a behavior management program to improve quality of care, reduce restraints and improve staff confidence and competence with behavioral concerns.

Your management team is ready, willing and able to commit to a 6 month implementation schedule, but you don't have the time to research and design the program.

You need training resources that are appropriate for all levels of staff from administration to nursing to support staff.

You want on-site consultation for all phases of the project until your staff members are ready to carry on successfully.

how does it work?
Our consultants will assist you and your staff in developing, planning and implementing a behavior management program over the course of six on-site sessions. The sessions are about 3 weeks apart.

In the first twosessions, with the administrator and the leadership team, we provide an overview of the behavior management process and assist in the development of a written policy and procedure for behavior management. We also provide course materials and a trainer's guide for in-service training of staff members.

The next four sessions, for managers, care planners and hands-on care givers, are devoted to skill building. Your management team selects two or three residents for behavior management case study. We then conduct training in the context of clinical case conferences with your staff.

Over the course of the four sessions, we take your staff through the steps of assessing the behavior, designing and implementing a behavioral intervention and, finally, evaluating and fine-tuning the behavioral care plan.

The skill building sessions are designed to help your staff apply what they have learned in the course material to the real world of your facility. They also serve as a pilot program that will enable you to implement behavioral management in a gradual process.
